New Blog for Area Writers

There's a new blog in town that might be of interest. "This Grinnell Life" is a blog started by the Grinnell Writers' Consortium. They had their first public workshop in early February and were led by Iowa writer Mary Swander (Mary was named Iowa Poet Laureate in late February). The workshop resulted in several writings that were posted to the new blog. The hope is that the blog will be a place that group members may share their future work as well.

New Online Community Calendar

The Chamber of Commerce is now hosting an online calendar of local events which are open to the public. This calendar is the result of meetings between representatives of the college, the city, Grinnell Tourism and a variety of other individuals who are interested in having a single place for people to go to find out what there is to do in town on any given day.

Check out the newest blog under "Links by Grinnell Bloggers". It's for Zink Photography
and it's definitely some good stuff by a local freelance photographer. A lot of her images are pulled up by the Flickr photostream so I'm really happy to know their origin.

I wonder if she does pictures of 9 year olds who hate to have their picture taken?
